changing field on H1B ( from mechanical to IT)

Hi,

I have masters degree in Mechanical and presently i'm doing job in mechanical field on H1b.  Now i'm not interested to do job in my core area and want to move to IT. Is it possible to transfer h1b from mechanical engg to IT field. if its not possible will i subject to cap again

It should be possible ,but you should have an employer who should offer you a IT job and apply for H1-b transfer. Also there might be a chance of getting RFE while h1-b transfer
