Will i be able to travel out of US if my h1b expires?

My current H1B expires on Sep. 20th, 2013, and my employer has filed for extension in May 2013 (still in initial review). I am planning to go abroad at the end of August, and return to the US by Sep. 1st, 2013. Will I be okay re-entering the US using my existing H1B?
