Holding h1b visa an be out of status when I register to University

Question

I applied for h1b through my college and got petition approved, they havent sent i94 yet. Later I started teaching here till Jul 2013  and I was out of status. Now  I am stuck and cant do anything. What options do I have?

If you are out of status for less than 180 days it may be possible to retrieve H-1B status outside the US.
