While on an H1B visa can I own a LLC (50% partnership)?

My business partner is a United States citizen and we are going to use all of his details for taxes.
Can someone also advise me on how to get profit and if there is a loss can it be deducted or not?

You can definitely own a business with your partner even on an H1B. You have to be aware of certain rules but generally it doesn't cause an issue.
