I completed 6 years of tenure with my H1B. I am waiting for a priority date after my labor and i-140 is approved. I am planning to marry a girl who is a permanent resident.
What should be my next steps?

I am aware that for marraying a US Citizen we need adjustment of status and then apply for residency. Do I need to do something similar to this?

So can't I apply for GC if she hasnt got her Citizenship yet? Or do I need to maintain my H1b status?

She can immediately sponsor your GC and apply for status adjustment if you marry her right away.

Further more, you can consult an experienced immigration lawyer for more personal assistance.
