Change of H1b status and H1b consular processing

I am on STEM OPT working in USA. My company filed H1b this year which is going to activate in May instead of changing status to H1b.

Is there a disadvantage of going with H1b consular processing instead of OPT status change to H1b>

A cap-subject H-1B cannot be "activated" in May. The earliest that a cap-subject H-1B can be "activated"
