H1b transfer cap exempt what should be the status and employment beginning?

I am transfering from cap-exempt h1b to cap-subject h1b with new job and wondering what should be my 1st day at cap-exempt employer.
Will i be able to take a couple of weeks breaks and stay in US legally?

You can only start working as of October 1 if you are in a cap subject visa
