What is the criteria for defining h1B overlap

Question

Working in one university with h1b and then changed university with h1b transfer. University2 applied for my transfer. So now I will have 2 h1b work permits with overlapping for 5 days.

I am planning to work for universityA, get my wages and then register payroll list of universityB after Aug.

Is this a legal case?

If you are in the U.S. you have up to 60 days to join the new H-1B employer so yuor schedule above should be fine. If you want to start with University B on August 15 that is fine as well.
