Applied for h1b visa extension, Can i transfer to h4 visa

I am on H1B visa. I94 expires this year end. would be helpful if i get answers for the below questions
1. I am applying for H4 visa for my wife and kid. will there be any issue for them to get H4 visa when my(h1b) is in the process of extension?

2. what other things dO i need to handle to work this out?

They'll only be given H-4 status for the duration of your H-1B status. Thus, you better file for the extension of your H-1B status ASAP.
