I am J1 trainee, can I apply for H1b

I am on a j1 trainee visa until early 2014 which I was going to extend for 6 months into later 2014 , my visa sponsor company requirements have stated that my host company can not petition for any participants on their trainee program for a h1b visa or any other visa,

my company want to sponsor me for a h1b visa in April 2014 what can they do?

You should consult with your potential employer's immigration attorney. Generally it is more difficult to stay in the US if you enter on a J-1 visa.
