H1b extension when h4 change of status pending

Is it possible that my employer can file h1b extension for me with my h4 change of status being in progress state?

I filed for h4 also, now i am trying to stay with my employer since he is giving me the location preference that i wanted.
I am trying to cancel h4 COS filing and work as h1b status employee

Yes. You can send a letter to USCIS withdrawing your application for COS to H-4. Make sure your employer timely files for the extension of your H-1B though.
