My h1b case was pending since long time under section 221g at Delhi consulate. During interview I wasnt given color slip so I am not sure why my case is pending and now my company hasnt contacted with any documents either.

USCIS website shows that my case was sent back for review and they will contact me if required.

What exactly does this mean? What can be the implications in such cases after the review is complete? How long does it take approximately for the USCIS to review such pending case and come to a decision?

You can go to this website to learn about 221(g) denial

221gs at Delhi Embassy generally take 9 months - 1 yr. In a couple of months your employer will receive a NOID notice from the CIS asking for additional documents. If they are willing to provide the documents, the case will be approved and sent back to the consulate for visa issuance. Happens frequently with third party placements if employer is a smaller company.
