I am working on h1b from past 4 years and was wondering if there is a way to change my status to become a green card holder without company sponsorship?

Business based visa without an employer? No ... sorry .. unless you've got a PhD and have discovered a cure for cancer ... or something quite similar.

Family based visa? Sure, marry a US citizen.
