My friend has an L1B visa and his I-94 will expire on September 9, 2013 but his company did aplly for his L1 extension. Can he still stay in the United States until his L1 extension runs out? During this time, he also applied for H1B from another employer. His H1B got approved with consular processing. Now he has to go to India so he can get his H1B stamped.

My questions are:

1. Can he legally stay in the United States until he gets his L1B extension (as he already has his approved H1B)?

2. As soon as he gets his L1B extension and he decides to go to India to get his H1B stamped, will there be problems as his L1B extension will come after his H1B result.

The best advice I have is that you should contact an immigration attorney in regards to his difficult issues.
