Will a civil law suit have any effect on my H1B visa and green card applications?

I am going to extend my H1B visa for 3 years now. I recently met with an accident. The party does not want to do out of court settlement and they want to settle down in court. They are filing the suit. Will this have any impact on my extension of H1B visa and greenc ard applications? Please help
