Will H1b restrict your status as an employee tied to a company or can I work as a independent real estate agent?

I am currently on dependent Visa (H4), I would like to enter real estate industry and for that I need to have a broker license. If a company sponsors my H1B, and I attain that license, my sponsorship will not be as an employee but as an independent contractor. Am I legally permitted to work as an independent contractor on H1B ?

While on H-1B, you can only work, whether paid or unpaid, for the employer that filed the H-1B petition.
