Using old DS -2019 to immigrate if there is overlap between J1 and H1b?

Question

I was on a J1 visa that was originally valid until 09/30/13.

I found a new job starting in October and the company filed a "change of status" to get me the H1B visa.

Now, I stopped working at my old work place a month earlier than originally intended to have a month off between my new and old job and to get a new H1B stamp in Germany for my new job starting 10/01/13. I am planning on entering the US on 09/20, but now I was sort of wondering if I need my old DS-2019 for that, too?
