Will my H1b extension be filed even if I am not in US?

I have my H1B visa stamped and valid until Sept 30' 2013 (started Oct 1' 2012). However, I left USA last year in August '2012 and still continue to work the same employer in India. Can my employer file for the H1B extension while I am working for him in India?

Yes, but an H-1B is for work in the U.S. for work in India no need for H-1B for working in your own country.
