Advice required whether I can stay legally on OPT after applying for h1b

Question

I currently work on OPT and have a valid f1b visa until 2015 which ends on Aug. I have applied for an extension though, but it is still under initial review and they can deny anytime.
I have got a job offer in non-profit organization who is ready to apply for h1b in September. Can I legally stay in US until then?
