H1b to h4 conversion

I am on h4 visa currently. My employer applied for h1b visa aand got that approved.
I might not be able to work for sometime due to health issues so planning to change to h4 visa.

can my company reactiviate h1b later?
how long does the process take

your status automatically changes to H-1B and you are required to maintain status especially if you plan to change status to H-4 while in the U.S. Your employer can seek H-1B in your behalf after the H-4 is approved.
