can h1b extension possible with more than time left?

Question

I changed my job and had to do h1b transfer. I have 1 year left out of 6 year cap. I dont have perm application now for more than 365 days nor I have my I-140 approved.
So I didnt start GC processing, so my h1b approval notice says h1b extended for 3 more years.
Is this mistake from USCIS?

talk to your current EMPLOYER'S immigration attorney about this. USCIS is known to make mistakes, but if a mistake it is, they'll catch it at the consulate and could even accuse you of fraud.
