I am on OPT extension where my employer is planning to file h1b for me. They are also promising to file GC.
Is it possible to file GC without getting h1b?
What will be my status in that case?
gc
visa
h1b

Well, it is legally possible to apply GC bypassing h1b.
However, none of the employers do that because you wont be legally bound to them when you get your GC.
