Can the company ask me to reimburse the H1B transfer expense of about $5,800 because I rejected a signed offer?
I got an offer from company 'A' and signed it. Then 'A' filed H1B transfer for me.
Now I got a decent offer which is acceptable to me from my present employer, and want to cancel the A's offer.
'A' sent a notice through their attorney asking me to reimburse them all the expense caused my H1B transfer including attorney's fee, that is about $5,800.
I even didn't start my employment with A because I didn't show up and didn't sign any other documents. The offer letter I signed didn't mention anything about the reimbursement issue and early termination issue.
Will I be responsible for the expense or either part of the expense?
