Question on h1b person getting married to US Citizen

I got married to US Citizen and hold h1b and trying to apply for a GC right now. She has a full time job in other state and planning to wrap up with her job.
We plan the wedding in August since I applied for h1b extension.
Can I start the GC in August after marrying her or should I wait until oct?

Not living together will be an issue to be overcome. Check out with a good immigration attorney.
