Does non-profit quota have h1b and will i be able to apply for that and work here in US?

I am planning to apply for h1b and work in non-profit organization.
Does non-profit fall under this quota? Will I be able to apply for this anytime or should I wait till the quota opens in April?

Petitions for H-1B employment are exempt from the annual cap if the beneficiaries will work at institutions of higher education or related or affiliated nonprofit entities, nonprofit research organizations or governmental research organizations.
