I need to validate whether my consultancy has really filed for an h1b visa. 

 

The consultant has send across a letter and a receipt number. How do i validate whether they have really filed the case? I searched USCIS with this case receipt number, but it didn't show up there

If you have the receipt number you should be able to track you case status on https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboard/CaseStatus.do.

It takes a few days to show on the tracking site once you receive the receipt. If it has been a long time since your visa has been filed, contact your employer and ask him to send you the receipt.
