My h1b valid till 2005 given in Jordan and got a 1 year extension. Do I have to apply for h1b again?

I am going to Jordan for trip in September and have renew appointment which expires in Dec 2013.
I am trying to renew visa only right now, so do I need i-797 approval , i-129etc when i go for renewing the visa?

Yes, you should bring the same documents PLUS additional documents which the company's immigration lawyer should assist with gathering (ie: pay stubs, letter verifying employment, etc.)
