H-1B Visa Extension processing delays were reported earlier this month by the USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services). There are candidates who have been waiting for more than 6 months now without any proper response and most of the delays is due to the limited work force at the Vermont Service Center working on H-1B extension of stay cases.
The USCIS announced some extension of stay cases are now being transferred from the Vermont Service Center to the California Service Center. Only some cases under the H-1B Extension of stay (I-129 petition – Extension of Stay) casework is transferred to CSC (California Service Center).

How Transfer of Service Center Affects Your Case Processing?
If your case is being transferred to a different service center:
- A notice is sent by the USCIS to your employer/attorney listing the transfer date and at which service center your case will be processed.
- The original receipt number given by the USCIS will not change.
- The transfer to a different service center will not delay the processing of your case.
- If your employer receives a notice about the transfer of your extension petition to California Service Center (CSC), you may allow 21 days from the date of transfer notice to hear from CSC, in order to issue a decision or other notice of action.
